Discover the history of this reconstructed 18th century Dutch homestead on 44 acres with 1740s Dutch barn and restored garden. From 1829 to 1866, the property and ornamental garden was managed by James F. Brown, an escaped slave from Maryland who became a trusted employee of the Verplank family. The journal he kept for 40 years documents life on the estate including ferry trips across the Hudson River to buy plants from the "father of landscape architecture" Andrew Jackson Downing's nursery. Guided tours, special events, school and/or group program available.

For 2023, guided tours of Mount Gulian’s historic home, its 18th-century barn and its heritage garden are available each week on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from June 21 through Oct. 29.
