Lyft

Address:

Poughkeepsie, NY 12601

As of June 29, 2017, Lyft officially began operating in Dutchess. The apps are the first of their kind to be used in the area, and are a welcomed addition.

For those not familiar with Uber, it is a mobile apps that can be downloaded to your smartphone, linked to your credit card, and are used for hailing -transportation to provide an easy and convenient ride-hailing experience, with no cash exchange needed. The apps give the rider a quote for the trip, and allow them to track their driver to estimate their arrival time. Open the app and enter your information, the address of where you want to go, and summon a ride. Both are used in most major cities across the US and internationally. Although still very new to our community, we are excited about this new addition and hope the ride-hailing apps have much success in Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley region.

The mobile apps are extremely helpful in situations where access to a car is not available, after a few drinks have been consumed with friends, and particularly for out of town travelers.  Lyft will be able to offer a quick and accessible service to tourists. Whether visitors are training up from New York City, or flying into Stewart International Airport, the mobile apps will be a new option for completing their trip to a local hotel or nearby attraction.

Lyft can be downloaded free from the App Store on your smartphone. For more information about Lyft, visited their website, click here
