Twofold project by New York-based artist Rachel Harrison. In the CCS Bard Galleries: "Consider the Lobster". First major Rachel Harrison survey exhibition features her large-scale installations, all of which have been reconfigured and transformed for the CCS Bard galleries, including an architectural intervention that takes and breaks the walls of the gallery and utilizes their fragments for the structure of a new exhibition. In "And Other Essays", Harrison collaborates with six invited artists—including Nayland Blake, Tom Burr, Harry Dodge, Alix Lambert, Allen Ruppersberg, and Andrea Zittel—to reinstall works from the Marieluise Hessel Collection in the Hessel Museum of Art. Two exhibitions, abstract paintings by Joanne Klein and Detritus/Imprint, paintings and sculpture by E. Elizabeth Peters in the Project Room. A third exhibition is on view in honor of the Hudson Fulton Champlain Quadricentennial. Solo exhibition by Kari Feuer of oil paintings and pastels, inspired by the countryside in northern Dutchess where the painter lives, is on view. Often, the first mark a landscape painter makes is the horizon line, working out where to divide the sky from the land, the ether from the solid. The horizon, or lack of one, becomes a paramount artistic decision in the composition of the painting. Reception Sun. 6/28 4-6pm. Free. 10am-5pm daily.

Three staged works including two plays: "Ninety", Joanna Murray Smith’s provocative reflection on marriage (Powerhouse, 'til 7/12) and "Vera Laughed", Keith Bunin’s romantic, Checkhovian take on relationship triangles (Powerhouse, 7/22-8/2), as well as the new musical "The Burnt Part Boys", with book by Mariana Elder, lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and music by Chris Miller, directed by Erica Schmidt (7/17-26). Two “Martel Musicals” are offered this season as concert readings: Tina Girlstar, a biting black comedic look at the contemporary music industry (Martel, 7/1-2) and Whisper House, a musical ghost story (Martel, 7/10-11). The Inside Look, workshop presentations of plays with partial production values, features NY Times-best selling author Lewis Black’s "One Slight Hitch" (Susan Stein Shiva Theatre, 7/17-19).
